With more spectators than entrants, this event posed quite a risk of failure but given the quality of the participants, not to mention the consumption of the peanut gallery (which matched or may have exceeded that of the participants), I think all can say they had a good time and/or left feeling better about themselves. Or at least, they can say they've never in their life seen anyone puke like Tigger, who again puked on the second lap.
This year's new venue (top secret) and circumstances (BK Day) almost made up for the lack of attendance by The Captain (not to be confused with Cap'n), but he received due penance when my wife's Gators whipped his sister's Hogs. And I suppose that the US Armed Forces cannot have two Captains participating the same such event at the same time, but I digress.
The new course was fascinating and well put together by Tigger, with an element of cross country involved. After the walkthrough, the five entrants lined up at the exchange station, can in hand. Since none were especially good at the exchange, this became quite silly indeed when the official timekeeper (heretofore referred to as The Bishop) announced start and the five began slurping and burping with more than ten onlookers. Laughs ensued, which made a few participants spit Lite up their nose, and shortly Ryan was off. Tiggs followed with a mad dash, BK, and then a few seconds later Cap'n and Strange led the trailing pack.
Lap two went much the same except that the front slowed and the rear crept forward until Tiggs' affair went south during the second exchange, creating horrendous sounds of diaphragmmatic spasm heard by all participants (causing some to walk in pain or laughter) and a few dogs, though no fuzz were alerted to Tigger's presence.
As the race finished, Ryan slowed while Cap'n showed his true colors. BK could handle no more of Tigger's music and slowed to a crawl, while Tigger was good for two more laps before puking again. And again, which caused BK to finally lose his lunch.
In the end, a good time was had by all and Sic commented, "The important thing to remember here is that if you win, you lose."
