Nacinovich, Claire 99 18:54*

Paranya, Gretchen 96 25:10

The first annual Wesleyan Chunder Mile was a success as an impressive 7 of 8 competitors finished. The weather was horrendous and although the rain let up slightly, the temperature was far below the average for May 6th in Middletown, CT. Deciding to compete with "Pabst Blue Ribbon" bottles didn't help matters, especially because half the supply was warm.
After favorite Andrew Fuys pounded the first beer in something ridiculous like 9 seconds, he promptly took out his first quarter in what was estimated to be a 65. Then much to everyone's surprise (especially his own) he proceeded to projectile vomit, knowing that a 1-lap penalty would be slapped upon him.
The race for first became truly interesting when Eisner and Butler finished their 4th and final beer at the same time. After trading belches for almost 150 meters, Butler threw in a surge and Eisner broke. Succumbing to the brew, he offered a gift to the vomit gods, then finished the race and his penalty lap in a respectable 10:53.
One of the top running favorites, Alphonso Smith International 800 winner Mitchell struggled to finish his final beer in under 10 minutes and paced Paranya (yes, Karl's sister) to a time of 25:10.
The race of the day belonged to Mazereeuw, who would not drink only the prescribed 3 beers as a woman, but pounded 4 solid bottles of PBR and finished in one of the fastest female times ever, 12:53. Slacker wannabes McMurray and Nacinovich also ran quickly and thoroughly embarassed all the big tough men who opted to sit out because of "the rain".
All in all, the event capped off a fun day. The chunder mile at the end of the cross country season next fall should make for an incredible race, as Michael Van Nimwegen will be off the injured Reserved list for the Wes men and top recruits from Texas, Montana and Mexico will particpate.
